Sustainable development has often been understood as having three dimensions: economic, environmental and social. But the world has begun to recognize a fourth: culture. This presentation outlines a report published by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO addressing how culture and creativity play key roles in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By placing cultural industries at the heart of their development and sustainability plans, Creative Cities show us how culture can generate jobs, strengthen community ties, foster innovation, and accelerate progress toward the SDGs.
