Arnold Yescas is the Arts & Culture Manager at the Downtown Kitchener Business Improvement Area (DTK BIA), where he leads public programming and cultural initiatives that bring people together, support local businesses, and animate the city’s urban core.
Through a diverse portfolio of events, Arnold helps shape Downtown Kitchener into a destination for arts, music, culture, and community connection. His work includes Sunset Sessions, a free outdoor concert series showcasing live music and local talent; the Far East Asian Night Market; Día de los Muertos; DTK Welcomes the World; and Sunday Grind, alongside a wide range of other creative, culinary, music and community-driven initiatives.
His programming brings people into public spaces downtown, creates opportunities for artists and performers, supports local businesses, and celebrates the diversity of the community. The 2026 Far East Asian Night Market alone attracted 15,000 attendees and generated an estimated $900,000 in economic impact within just 8 hours, demonstrating the potential of cultural programs to deliver meaningful benefits beyond the event itself.
With a focus on accessible public programming, artist engagement, and community-driven experiences, Arnold champions the role of arts and culture in creating vibrant public spaces, strengthening local economies, and building a stronger sense of place. His work reflects a belief that successful downtowns are built not only through development, but through shared experiences that give people a reason to gather, connect, and return.
