Associate Dean, School of Contemporary Media at Fanshawe College
Rob Carver is an accomplished media producer, manager and educator with an extensive list of award-winning productions to his credit. Working for Rogers Cablesystems in BC in the ‘80s and ‘90s, Dr. Carver held a series of progressive leadership positions from supervising a small production office to Director of Rogers TV BC. A change in ownership led to his relocation to Toronto, where he led a reorganization for Rogers TV Programming Operations, and progressed to Director of Rogers TV GTA, and subsequently GM of Rogers TV in Ontario and the Maritimes.
Concurrent to his media production career, Dr. Carver produced, directed and wrote TV programs for the NFB, CTV, YTV, Family Channel, and international broadcasters, and taught media production at Capilano College in BC, and Centennial College and Toronto Metropolitan University in Toronto. Upon leaving Rogers. Rob held Director and VP roles in related industries, before fully transitioning to the academic world as Associate Dean, School of Contemporary Media at Fanshawe College.
Rob holds and MA in Media Production from Toronto Metropolitan University, and MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Calgary. His award-winning productions include Vancouver – A City of Choice, awarded the City Assets Grand Prize from the Arts and Entertainment Network and the US Library of Congress; Kids in the Firehall, awarded the Bronze Apple Award, National Educational Media Network, USA; Daytime BC, awarded the Leo Award for Best Talk and Information Program, Canada.
