Music Director, St. Paul’s Cathedral
Laurence Williams is an international bass-baritone soloist, choral conductor, organist and educator. He is currently Director of Music at St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Ontario.
He trained at Cambridge University where he was part of the Gramophone award-winning Trinity College Choir, and at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating with distinction and a Concert Recital Diploma. He is widely praised for his lyrical tone and engaging communication of narrative.
He is passionate about introducing all voices to choral music and has extensive experience inspiring non-professional musicians. With youth musicians, he has run 5 children's choirs over the past 10 years, and created Dowland Youth Works, a residency-based course in the UK to introduce teenagers to the works of John Dowland, the pop musician of his day.
He loves how his work as a conductor helps inform his performing career and vice versa. He took the post of Director of Music at St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Ontario in April 2025 where he directs the three choirs, runs the music program and plays the beautiful 4-manual Casavant organ. He is supported by a wonderful team of clergy and staff as he aims to bring the best music making possible to London.
