Born in the city of Asahikawa in 1987, Takaya graduated from Hokkaido University of Education in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a music teaching certification. That same year, he moved to Tokyo and began working there, specializing in the repair and tuning of classical instruments, with a focus on 17th- and 18th-century-style keyboard instruments.

In 2018, he served as a program officer during the launch of the Arts Council in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. He returned to Asahikawa in 2020, spending two years studying woodworking and design before establishing Hokkaido Arts & Creation LLC in 2023.
