Paul Maxwell is an award-winning entrepreneur, independent concert promoter, and music industry professional who has spent nearly two decades helping shape the live music scene in the Waterloo Region.

Paul's entrepreneurial journey began in 2007 when he incorporated his first business while still in his fourth year at Wilfrid Laurier University, studying Business Administration with a minor in Music. In 2008, he opened Maxwell's Music House, a unique space that brought several aspects of the local music community together under one roof. The original location offered music lessons, rehearsal spaces for artists and bands, a community radio station, and live performances, creating a place where musicians and music lovers could connect, collaborate, and develop their talents.

As the live entertainment side of the business continued to grow, Paul relocated to a much larger facility in 2014, rebranding the business as Maxwell's Concerts & Events. Today, the 737-capacity venue has become one of Waterloo Region's most recognized live entertainment destinations, welcoming hundreds of local, national, and international artists across virtually every musical genre.

Alongside the new concert venue, Paul also opened a dedicated, full-time rehearsal facility featuring 15 separate jam halls. Operating at full capacity for well over a decade, the facility has become an important part of Waterloo Region's music community, providing local musicians and bands with reliable, dedicated spaces to rehearse, create, and develop their music without interruption.

Throughout his career, Paul has worn just about every hat imaginable in the live music business. He continues to personally oversee all bookings, marketing, and overall business operations at Maxwell's, supported by a dedicated and talented team he's built over the years. From negotiating contracts and promoting concerts to bartending and cleaning floors, his hands-on approach has remained a constant throughout nearly two decades in business.

His entrepreneurial accomplishments have earned him several recognitions, including induction into the Waterloo Region Entrepreneur Hall of Fame, Wilfrid Laurier University's Young Alumnus of the Year, The Record's 40 Under 40, and being named Young Entrepreneur of the Year twice by the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, among other accolades. Paul also founded Maxwell Marketing Company, expanding his experience in concert promotion and digital advertising to help other businesses grow.

Outside of work, Paul is a proud husband and father to two wonderful children. He has a lifelong love of hockey, whether playing, watching, or cheering on his kids as they develop their own passion for the game. He's also actively involved with Hockey Helps the Homeless Waterloo Region, helping raise funds to support local organizations working to combat homelessness.

Despite nearly two decades in the business, Paul remains as passionate as ever about live music, supporting artists, and creating memorable experiences for the community.
